Last Saturday, my favorite piece of clothing found its way to Maasmechelen Village for the “Destination Denim” kick-off! During a cosy afternoon in the denim garage we got a complete jeans overview with stories, tips and inside secrets from specialist Georgio Lironi. After this nice and instructive presentation we could not wait to discover the large jeans offer. All the big brands like Diesel, Levi’s, G-Star, Guess and 7 For All Mankind have their spot at the Village, call it a blue candy store.
I saw this as the perfect occasion to dwell on my own blue collection. Since my early childhood I’ve always had a special bond with jeans, it’s comfy and suits every outfit whether it’s sportive or classy. During the years I gathered a lot of them and tried out almost every denim brand. Finally I ended up with my 4 favorite ones: Acne, Denham, Levi’s and Cheap Monday (for the Tight in black!).
The Acne Flex… The best fit if you ask me, it’s a skinny fit with a bit of a higher waist. I like the fact that the brand always keeps it simple, the stitches are not too visible, no logos what so ever. Perfection!
Denham Clean… Most of the time there’s a lot of stretch in female jeans, this one is exactly the opposite. It’s a really beautiful Japanese selvage. At first sight it might seem to be a boyfriend fit but it’s not. The Clean has a bit of a higher waist and it’s a straight fit, call it old school!
Levi’s straight… Last but not least there’s the oldest one, you can’t think about denim without mentioning Levi’s! I never used to find the right fit there but since they launched the Curve ID I’m yet again a big fan. Can’t stop wearing this blue straight one at the moment, and I so adore those original stitches on the pockets.
Till the 7th of October jeans will be the centre of attention during the Destination Denim days at Maasmechelen Village.
